Session Report
The N00berlord, session 3

I am the N00berlord, and I freaking dominated them.
Ok, they entered the second level of their first dungeon tonight. I had 19 threat and 10 cards in my hand, so I was already drooling. The dungeon was number 39 -- there's a big boss uber beastman in a room who could only be wounded by a hero who had drank from a cursed fountain. I picked the build that gave me 4 skeletons and 2 master beastmen (remember master beastmen's Command power stacks). The heroes took their turn to set up behind the door where my minions were all waiting, so on my turn I spawned a dark priest and a master dark priest to help my homies, and moved the uber beastman up closer to the door. On their secon turn, the heroes opened the door then all took different Ready actions (Lunch and Aaron resting while Doug dodged and Mike -- in a moment of questionable strategy -- readied an attack).
Gen Con 2009 Day 5

Sunday, August 16th
The final day of the con was upon us and I only had a short day lined up. After checking out of the hotel, we went to the game library in room 500 and checked out a copy of Power Grid. Curt finally got to get a play in of this, despite us passing it up for free in the Rio room every other day. The Rio room was closed down for today, so we had to pay. I probably had the most experience with this game and leveraged it for an easy victory. The game is still one of my favorites, and its an easy rating of "Buy".
Gen Con 2009 Day 4

Saturday, August 15th
Lack of sleep is taking its toll. Today we ended up going back to the hotel earlier after an evacuation, but more on that later. We started the day once again in the Rio room for a game of Maori, and then a game of Stone Age. The former is a new game that is easy to learn, and the latter is in my personal library, but Curt wanted to try it.
Gen Con 2009 Day 3

Friday, August 14th
Our day started, once again in the Rio Grande room, where we found an open spot for the game Witches Brew. For a fairly simple game, the rules are written in such a way as to confuse all of us. Now granted, it was the morning, and we didn't actually bother to read all the rules, but that's a nit pick. Eventually since we looked like a bunch of beached salmon, one of the workers came over and clarified the game for us in about 3 minutes. I am sure glad we saved time from reading a 3 page rule book when all we had to do is try and infer rules for 30 minutes from the margin reference and our own gaming instinct. The game is decent. Not real deep, but enough to have some replay value.
Gen Con 2009 Day 3: A Conspicuous Beginning

Friday, August 14th
I mentioned in my blog yesterday that we went out for a few drinks with Wade, Michael, and Wade's posse. Well, a few drinks turned into a few more, and before we were finished, we were feeling pretty good. Then to top if off we had a couple more beers at our hotel as we play tested the poorly made Fruit Basket Upset game that Kevin is working on. A good night.
Gen Con 2009 Day 2
Fri, 08/14/2009 - 01:30 | by Vree
Thursday, August 13th
We had no problem getting our badges this morning at will call, so with a couple hours before the exhibit hall opened we headed into the Rio room. There wasn't many people here and we met up with "booth babe Beth, the board game booth babe". Curt decided to coin her this title and it stuck throughout the day. She did an excellent job teaching us "Castle for all Seasons", which we subsequently played. A good game, and Nate gave it his nod for best game demo of the day.
Gen Con 2009 Day 2 (morning)

OK, a little back story here. I went to Norway in May on a vacation. Now, in Norway, everything is price inflated. I used this as a springboard excuse to try out a little experiment with soda pop. Since a glass of coke at a restaurant cost something like $8, I resolved to give up soda. The experiment would run for 3 months and I would see if there is anything to the myth that you can lose weight just by cutting out sugared pop. Cutting down from an average of 3 cans a day to nothing should display some result right?

So here goes. I am a terrible writer, and I don't even plan to read it through before submitting each night. Nevertheless, here is part 1 of my 2009 Gen Con Experience.
